Given the importance of wedding photography, couples are investing a lot of time in choosing a wedding photographer to capture the true essence of their big day. In most cases, couples decide by reviewing several wedding photography portfolios before finalizing their choice. Having a great wedding photography website is crucial for any photographer who is looking to impress clients and get business. Your wedding photography portfolio website needs to go beyond just showcasing your talent and wedding portfolio. It also needs to showcase who you are as a person and how you approach your work. It's important to invest care and attention to each detail of your photography portfolio website - the images that you choose should tell a story, the website should be easy to access and navigate and most importantly, it should project the unique vision that you would bring to a wedding assignment

This is a goal I have every year; to not let it get so personal. I want to be able to hear constructive feedback about my images without feeling personally attacked, to not allow negative energy to kill my buzz, to not give away the farm, to keep office hours, to not edit with one hand and make dinner for my kids with the other. It’s a struggle. Possibly my biggest. Partly because it is personal. I don’t know a single professional photographer who became one because they needed a job and photography was there and was easy. We get into this business because we love taking pictures. What a dreamy situation – to take an art, a hobby, and turn it into your career. It’s easy to keep dodging and burning the midnight Photoshop oil when you are having success doing something you love. To avoid burn-out and keep your basic love of photography intact, work at maintaining a life/work balance. If taking pictures is how you make a living, do the tasks that aren’t as fun creating images, during actual normal working hours. Commit to not taking on too much, or doing jobs for free or cheap just to be nice. Build your portfolio with intention so you are not just shooting everything that comes your way for no personal purpose. Hire out the tasks that keep you from being able to focus on the parts of your business only you can do. .

Each year I’m determined to make better photographs than the previous year – I’m constantly trying to be the best.

Photo reportage

Reportage photography, or what’s also known as documentary photography, is a photographic style that captures a moment or event in a narrative fashion, i.e., images that tell a story. Reportage, for example, depicts a story or event in a report-like fashion. Unlike traditional styles of photography, reportage photographs are often less formal and portray their characters in a pose-free way that occurs naturally, not staged. However, in wedding reportage photography there is often direct intervention for images like group photos of the entire wedding party, and portraits of the bridge and groom.
